Imagine a world that was only one colour. Or a world where every country had the exact same landscape, the same food, and the same clothes. To put it bluntly: it would be boring. We wouldn’t have anywhere to travel to, nothing new to learn, and no reason to grow.
In my book Different which I wrote for my son Zaci when he was six, I wanted to celebrate his uniqueness and celebrate the differences we all have. I explore a concept I call the “Global Stew.”

Think about a great meal. It isn’t made of just one ingredient. It needs different textures, different spices, and different flavors to make it delicious.

The Luxury of Identity in the corporate world and high-end lifestyle circles, we are often pushed toward “sameness.” We are told to follow the same trends, use the same “status symbol” products , and fit into a specific mold of success. But true luxury—and true performance comes from the opposite. It comes from the all the glorious colors of our individual heritage and our unique stories.

When we try to blend in or wipe away our cultural fingerprints to fit the room, we lose our edge. Our identity isn’t a uniform we put on; it’s the secret ingredient we bring to the table.

The Puzzle of the Next Generation. How do we pass this down? We tell our children that the world is a giant puzzle. If every piece were the same shape, you couldn’t build a picture. It’s the different shapes that allow the pieces to lock together to create something bigger than ourselves. Whether it’s a cultural celebration, a traditional garment, or a story passed down through generations, these aren’t just “nice-to-haves.”

They are the anchors of our identity.

The bottom line

In a world that feels increasingly standardized, the most high-performance thing you can do is stay unique. Don’t trade your global stew for a bland soup. Celebrate the different hopes, different dreams, and different hearts, because a world full of vibrance and unique gifts and perspectives is an exciting world in which there is so much opportunity.

About the Author:

Cally is a KDP freelance author and digital entrepreneur and was one of the first people to reach out to RICO Magazine. We are so grateful she did! While her background is in business strategy, she wrote a book called “Different” which is a kids book but in an adult’s world. It’s about the fact that the world is a “Global Stew” – a mix of cultures and traditions that only work when we celebrate the “glorious colours” of our own identities.
